K Rouse has evolved from its first contract in August 1993 updating a water main at Menwith Hill, Harrogate for Clugston Construction over a 16-week period. From then small groundworks packages were undertaken as K Rouse Groundworks as a sole trader before setting up K Rouse Civil Engineers Ltd in 1995. The company progressed to a civil engineering turnover of £33,000,000 at its peak, employing 350 people. In 2019 the workforce reached 400 including sub-contractors across K rouse civil Engineers Ltd, Rouse Homes and European plant. Having undertaken a £20,000,000 package on M62 J10-12 smart motorways project for BMJV, combined turnover across the companies reached £50,000,000 including European Plant sales.

European Plant services was established in 2005 as a plant dealership, 2009 saw excavator sales of 400 units.

Since 2012 Rouse Homes has sold over 300 new homes across 23 developments.
