The BAM / Morgan Sindall joint venture (BMJV) awarded K Rouse Civil Engineers the large M1 Junction 39 to 42 Advanced Works package for the Managed Motorways (hard shoulder running) works.
The central reservation works included; the removal of crash barrier posts with a specially modified machine mounted muncher attachment, approximately 20,000m3 of excavation, drainage amendments with pipes from 150 to 600mm diameter up to 4.00m deep, and the filling and trimming of the central reserve to enable the installation of the extruded concrete channel and barrier.
