K Rouse's specialist civil engineering expertise was demonstrated working for Clugston on canal side works for the Huddersfield Waterfront redevelopment for Kirklees Council under the supervision of British Waterways.

Our work scope centered around the redevelopment of a section of the canal by raising its base by 3m, building a new lock and associated drainage, public realm works, and the strengthening of the adjacent river wall on the river Colne with a Gabion Structure.

The key to the construction was the design of the temporary works structures around the new lock gate structures which were being built on the line of the existing canal. These were developed as 3 sided cofferdams propped off the existing capping beam and canal walls.

K Rouse successfully completed the project on time and budget with the canal being reopened on schedule for the new season.
