K Rouse operated as the main contractor on this Section 278 works package for Skelwith Properties.

The project scope was to construct a roundabout and increase the existing lane capacity on either side of it. These works were part of the planning consent for the future development of Flaxby Golf Club which is situated off the A59 at Flaxby, North Yorkshire.

The works included de-vegetation (including tree removal), removal of the existing road junction, relocation of the existing services, build up of batters to provide a development platform for the road, new road construction, new lane construction, drainage works and final surfacing and road furniture.

As this was a section of road that was used as part of the 2014 Tour de France route it was critical that the works were planned and completed to a strict programme.
